Citizen Skills Matter!

“Every democratic community or society must permanently re-emerge
based on the collective action of its citizens.”

“Slogan of the Month” in our student philosopher circle

(November 1990)

Today, the democracy conversation is a lot about what citizens are allowed to do (free elections, free press, checks and balances, etc.) and about whether citizens want democracy at all or are increasingly attracted by authoritarian government models. The blind spot seems to be the delicate question whether citizens are skilled enough to make a liberal and pluralistic democracy work. This website reflects how our thinking has developed over the last 30 years and is subject to rapid prototyping. Inter-active forums of all kinds to come soon... Let's be activists for more citizen skills and a co-creative democracy!
